1The two categories

Essential. They are needed for authentication, for the chosen farm, for the language, for security, for navigation and for working offline. They cannot be switched off from the preferences panel: without them, the features you ask for cannot be provided.

Analytics. They show us how ViFerm is used and where people get stuck. They are off from the start and begin only if you choose “Accept all” or if you switch the category on under “Customise”.

ViFerm does not use advertising cookies and does not include Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Microsoft Clarity or any other external analytics service.

2The list of cookies

The language cookie is set on the presentation pages too, where you have no account. It holds a single language key and nothing else.

The choice cookie holds three things: the version of the question, your answer and the day you gave it. After 180 days we ask you again.

The visitor number is not made out of anything of yours: not out of the IP address, not out of the browser, not out of the clock. Beside it we keep only the country, approximated from the time zone, and the language the page was shown to you in — a two-letter code each. We need it in order to see where people stop on the way to an account. If you create an account or sign in, the number is tied to your account, so that you are not counted twice. Two devices of the same person remain, for us, two visitors.

The authentication cookies and the analytics one carry the security attributes available. The one with the choice has to be readable by the preferences panel and holds nothing sensitive.

3What stays on your device

ViFerm works without a signal too, and that means that part of the data sits with you. What is kept locally:

• the offline pocket — a small copy of the animals, the active treatments, the open tasks and the guide, so that you can read them in the shed;
• the outbox — what you recorded without a signal, until it goes to the server;
• the photos you have opened and the app's resources, so that they show offline as well;
• small preferences — how many times you have opened the app and whether you dismissed the invitation to put it on your phone's home screen (viferm_deschideri_v1, viferm_instalare_invitatie_v1), plus the trail of the screens you have passed through, so that the “back” button takes you where you expect (viferm_istoric);
• the state of the notification subscription, if you switched them on. So that we can send you a notification on your phone, your browser gives us a delivery address from its provider — Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft, depending on the browser — and the message goes to that address encrypted, so the provider cannot read it. The address is deleted when you switch the notifications off;
• only with consent for the analysis, the day and the hour you were counted: viferm_zi_public and viferm_ora_public on the presentation pages, viferm_zi_app and viferm_ora_app in the app. They remember a date and an hour, that is all, so that you are not counted ten times in a day. They do not leave you: all that comes to us is a “yes” or a “no” to the question whether this browser has already been counted today.

The offline data serves the feature you asked for and does not depend on the analytics switch. Withdrawing consent deletes the visitor number and the four markers above; the pocket, the outbox and the preferences remain untouched. All of it disappears if you clear the app's data in your browser.

4Signing in with Google

Google's identity service loads only after you press “Continue with Google”. Opening the page does not call it, and signing in with an address and a password does not touch it at all. At the moment of the press, your browser contacts Google, and Google may set its own cookies and may receive technical information, among it the IP address and what the browser sends.

This loading is necessary only if you choose the Google method and is separate from the preference about ViFerm's analytics: someone who has chosen “Essential only” signs in with Google in exactly the same way.

Once you have signed in, the connection with Google ends. Your profile picture from them is not kept and is not shown anywhere — the bar at the top holds the initials of your name, drawn by the app. While you move around ViFerm, your browser asks nothing more of Google's servers.

5Changing your choice

You can change your choice at any time:

• from Cookie settings, at the foot of the presentation pages;
• from Account → Cookies and privacy, once signed in.

Withdrawing consent takes effect for the future. ViFerm remains complete with the essential technologies: the choice does not touch signing in, the farm, the language, working offline, the notifications you switched on yourself, or the farm data.
