About ViFerm

ViFerm brings together in a single system the information a farm holds on its animals, genealogy, reproduction, health, growth and daily work. The platform runs on phone, tablet and desktop, and can be used by the owner as well as by farm workers or the veterinarian.

How ViFerm started

ViFerm began from a real need: a cattle breeder was looking for a clearer way to organise the information and the deadlines that matter for his animals.

As the platform was developed, it became clear that the same problem exists on a great many farms: the data is split across registers, spreadsheets, documents and handwritten notes, and the complete history of a single animal is difficult to follow.

ViFerm was built to bring that information together and turn it into a practical working tool.

What the platform manages

Every animal has a complete record, covering:

• identification and membership of the herd;
• dam, sire, offspring and genealogy;
• heats, matings and inseminations;
• pregnancy checks, calvings and weanings;
• medical observations, treatments and vaccinations;
• withdrawal periods for milk and meat;
• weighings, average daily gain and body condition score;
• milk production and the history of exits from the herd.

From the events recorded, ViFerm generates activities and deadlines for the farm calendar on its own.

An existing herd can be imported directly from an .xlsx spreadsheet. Import and performance have been tested with a herd of 1,602 animals.

Herd management only

ViFerm is focused on managing the cattle herd. The platform does not attempt to cover accounting, crops, machinery or feed management.

That boundary is what allows more detailed work on reproduction, genealogy, health and the development of each individual animal.

For smallholdings and large herds

The platform can be used both by breeders managing a few dozen animals and by farms running large herds.

The owner can add team members and set separately what information and functions each person may reach. Farm workers, administrators and veterinarians can therefore work on the same farm without automatically being granted access to everything.

Farm data

The information entered into ViFerm belongs to the user and can be exported. The platform does not sell farm data and does not use it for advertising.

What is collected, why it is processed and what rights users have is set out in the privacy policy and in the terms and conditions.

Who develops ViFerm

ViFerm is an independent digital project, started and developed by Ionuț Negoiță.

The platform is run from Germany. Its architecture is built from the outset for multiple languages and for expansion into further markets.

Development continues on the basis of situations met on real farms and of feedback from farmers and veterinarians.

Working together

ViFerm is open to working with:

• farms and cattle breeders;
• veterinarians;
• livestock associations and industry organisations;
• suppliers of sensors and animal-monitoring equipment;
• companies interested in integrations or pilot projects.

The aim is to connect the digital herd record with the data and technologies already in use on farms, without complicating the daily work.
